"I’ve worked as a makeup artist on award ceremonies, film sets and TV shows such as Strictly Come Dancing."

I teach on our Beauty Therapy course at all levels.
Before moving into teaching, I built my career as a spa therapist, senior beauty therapist, and later as a spa supervisor at Sanctuary Spa in London’s Covent Garden. Over time, I’ve also worked as a lecturer, senior lecturer, head of department, and lead IQA. I’ve worked as a makeup artist on award ceremonies, film sets and TV shows such as Strictly Come Dancing. I continue to work hands-on with clients as I believe it’s important to keep my skills fresh and relevant, so that I can offer my students up-to-date insights on the latest trends.Â
I’ve wanted to work with the Hair and Beauty team at UCB since my teaching days in London. We’d often compete against UCB at the WorldSkills UK - the college has always had a great reputation so I was delighted to land a lecturing role here.Â
My classes are known for being fun and engaging and I treat everyone with respect - I’m firm but fair. I’m constantly inspired by the progression of all my students, especially those with different learning styles and neurodiversities. One of my proudest moments was being named ‘Lecturer of the Year’ at the British Beauty Awards and achieving Grade 1 teaching for three years.
Outside of work, I’m training for the London Marathon in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society. I’m also an active member of a book club - I get through about three thrillers every six weeks!
