On the way to making a difference
Aspiring social worker Duaa was drawn to her A-level choices by a desire to help people, and wanted to study in an environment that itself felt supportive.
鈥淢y A-level choices have helped me understand how society and behaviour work, which is key to social work,鈥� she said.
鈥淚 decided to study at UCB as the staff were knowledgeable and helpful, and I could see I鈥檇 be allowed to explore my potential.鈥�
Duaa has furthered her experience while studying by working as a student ambassador, and she feels this has been beneficial in the context of her future ambitions.
鈥淏eing recruited for the student ambassador job has been a real highlight of my time here,鈥� she said.
鈥淚t has allowed me to develop my people skills and employability while studying and earning money.鈥�
After finishing her A-Levels, Duaa is excited at the prosect of studying social work at university, but she鈥檚 mindful of making the most of the time she has left at UCB.
鈥淚 want to make a career helping people in the system who may feel underrepresented,鈥� she said.
鈥淚鈥檓 focused on my upcoming exams, but I鈥檇 advise anyone thinking of UCB to make the most of the opportunity鈥� it鈥檒l go by so quickly!鈥�
